Hopeless As A Star
03:46
|
|||
Waking up at 5 a.m. just to brush my teeth
Back out on the highway again for a couple weeks
Breakfast at the stations we pass along the road
And all of this from that song I wrote
But…
I couldn’t handle living in a van
Or sharing a room with my whole band
Or never seeing my baby for awhile
Always burning my eyes under big stage lights
And singing the same song every night
I’d rather drive a back seat in this bar
Oh man, I’d be hopeless as a star
Used to want my name lit up there in reds and blues
See my face in new hotels on the evening news
I tried to make it happen when I was seventeen
But sometimes things are better off as dreams
Cause...
Chorus
All of the screaming fans
Holding up their hands
As their favourite band
Plays their song again
I guess I could handle living in a van
And sharing a room with my whole band
And seeing my baby smiling from the stalls
Always burning my eyes under big stage lights
And singing the same song every night
I never dreamed that I would get this far
Oh man, it feels good to be a star
‘Thank you! Thank you very much!
Woo! See you next time
Have a safe drive home
B-bye!’

Fall Into Me
03:05
|
|||
I’ve been alone when it was just myself
I’ve been alone when with somebody else
I’ve been with friends but they don’t seem to help
Now you’re the one who saves me from myself
Won’t you just fall down into me
Everything’s right now here with me
Think about all the things that we could be
If you just fall into me
I may not be the first one on the moon
I may not be a ten, more like a two
I may not have the life that others do
But maybe I’m the one to be with you
Chorus
I will never ask you to give in
Only ever ask you to hold on to me
Let me feel your rain upon my skin
Chorus
If you just fall into me
If you just fall into me

Call Me In
03:31
|
|||
When he walks out that gate
And he never looks back
Leaving his ties in their place
And his best suit on the rack
When he says that he’s done
And he walks out that door
Making you cry all alone
By his dress shoes on the floor
Just pull out your phone
Lift it to your head…
And call me in
And tell me what’s up
If you drop a line
I’ll always pick up
Just give me a time and a place
When you need someone
And I’ll be right there waiting
When you feel alone
Just give me a buzz
And I’ll bring the wine
We’ll kick up some dust
Cause when it’s your heart on the line
And you need to phone a friend
You can call me in
When there soon comes a day
And they’re done growing up
When they were five, they would play
Now they’re shopping for a rug
When they say their goodbyes
And they give you a kiss
You feel the tears in your eyes
From the hugs and things you’ll miss
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
When you win too much money from a scratch lottery
And you think, ‘Who can spend that kinda money with me?’
Chorus

Falling Down In Love
03:41
|
|||
Love…
Love is on my mind
It bleeds me from inside
Then leaves me out to dry
I think about it still
The passion and the thrill
Of climbing up that hill
To something I can feel
A place to call my own
Days I find
Like the rain
I’m falling down
Always falling down in love
You…
Take me in your arms
And lead me with your charms
You shelter me from harm
But then it goes away
And every word we say
Turns us into play
Like actors on a stage
Then everything is gone
Days I find
Like the rain
I’m falling down
Always falling down in love
But sometimes
Me, I don’t mind
Falling down
Always falling down in love

I picked up a box of stuff from my parents’ house
I found some blue jeans and some shirts I thought I threw out
Under some family photos, you’ll never guess what I saw
It was the very first clear jewel case that I ever bought
So, on my way home I put some ‘Green Day’ on…
My grandpa got vinyl, my mama got tape
But I was born, bred and raised on these round silver plates
You know, it’s funny how much has changed
On the music scene
We’ve heard ‘em sing about radios in their cars
And then how video killed the radio star
And when the whole world stopped
How they blamed it on MTV
This disc got me through my teens
But they don’t sing about CDs
As soon as I hit my driveway, I took ‘em out
I dug out an old stereo, turned it up real loud
And then one by one I watched all my favourite bands turn
Even flicked through the books
Just to sing along with every word
When ‘The Killers’ were done, I put some ‘Nickelback’ on…
Chorus
You don’t have to flip them over to enjoy the ride
Chorus
‘Man, I love that CD!
Ha! What’s that? Journey?’

Never Looking Back
03:43
|
|||
Felt like midnight lost
In the darkness all by myself
I couldn’t see in front of me
Then I saw your face
Shooting sparks like nobody else
Couldn’t believe what I could see
No more wasting time
Need to cross that line
With you by my side
It will be all right
I can feel I’m on my way
Yeah, there’s no more
Holding on to my old ways
Yeah, the ways that held me
Now I see your face, you should know
I’m never looking back
I can feel that old heartache
Running its way out my chest
And making space
Making space for something else
I’m on my way, you should know
I’m never looking back
With you, I see light
In the stars and wonder what else
What there could be with you and me
Pre-Chorus
Chorus
But if I lose you when
It all comes caving in
I’ll climb back up again
To be there in the end
Chorus

Emily (For You)
03:55
|
|||
I was alone by myself before you
I didn’t know what on earth I could do
Then I saw your face walk in
And I heard your voice talking
Never thought a person could take hold
Then I felt a brand-new thing
Then I felt it start growing
Now no matter what happens
I know…
For you, I will be there
Nobody else will do
That’s why for you
I’ll be your man
No one compares to you
This love was meant to be
Emily
Now everyday what we’ll do’s all I see
We’ll run away straight to New York City
Then I see your face walk in
And I hear your voice talking
Never knew a person could take hold
Then we feel a brand-new thing
Then we feel it start growing
Now no matter what happens
I know…
Chorus

At Arm's Reach
02:09
|
|||
JAKE
Turning away from you, baby
Though I don’t want to wait for you
It’s getting harder each day
To love you at arm’s reach
EMILY
Wink and a wave, ain’t it funny
All the games that we play for two
It’s getting harder each day
To love you at arm’s reach
JAKE & EMILY
As the nights grow long
Our hearts grow strong
For the beat of every breath you take
COURTNEY
Into the night, hold me, baby
If the feeling is right for you
It’s getting harder each day
To love you at arm’s reach
Instrumental
COURTNEY & ZANE
As the nights grow long
Our hearts grow strong
ALL
For the beat of every breath you take
ZANE
Into the night, hold me, baby
COURTNEY
If the feeling is right for you
EMILY
It’s getting harder each day
JAKE
To love you at arm’s reach
To love you at arm’s reach

Satellites
03:25
|
|||
Remember those days
You wanted me close
You pulled me in tight
And never let go
But as the sun turns
The memories fade
It wasn’t our time
We needed some space
I’m in your atmosphere now
Satellites above our head
See what’s coming to an end
What’s changed has changed
What’s gone is gone
We’re rearranged
We’re moving on
Satellites above our head
Floating past just on the edge
To feel your pain
To hear you cry
So, I will be your satellite
I can’t be your world
So, I’ll be your star
To light up your night
When everything’s dark
I’m in your atmosphere now
Chorus
Even though you’re so far from me
You’re the only one that I see
So, I will be up overhead
Until I feel your ground again
I’m in your atmosphere…
Chorus
|

10. |
||||
If you ask for more money
You’ll get more money
In the form of credit cards and bills
If you ask for more alone time
You’ll get more alone time
Right along with loneliness in there too
Just the man who asks for nothing
Gets everything he wants
If you ask for more freedom
You’ll get more freedom
Free from all the people that you need
If you ask for more women
You’ll get more women
At your door who thought you were everything
Just the man who asks for nothing
Gets everything he wants
But if you ask for more music
You’ll get more music
And that’s all right with me
And if you ask for more sunshine
You’ll get more sunshine
And that sunshine asks for nothing in return
If you ask for more good times
You’ll get more good times
But you’ll feel the bad times stronger still
If you ask for more reasons
You’ll get more reasons
To be sad instead of living well
Just the man who asks for nothing
Gets everything he wants

Such A Fool
02:52
|
|||
Every day I’m such a fool
I wanna leave the world behind
Any way I try to move
It chews me up and leaves me blind
But every time I close my eyes
It opens up its mouth again
Lets me in on all the reasons I’m alive
And all I see is you
All I see is you
Every day I’m such a fool
I wanna leave my life behind
Fly a plane to Malibu
And land it in the sands of time
But even when I’m on line
I see a flash of light again
Lets me in on all the reasons I’m alive
And all I see is you
All I see is you
Instrumental
Every day I’m such a fool
I almost left my dreams behind
